Welcome to the Oakland Bird Club Web Site
Get to know us:
We are a group of about 30 enthusiastic birders of various skill levels
who love to explore the varied birding spots of the Bay Area from Palo
Alto Baylands to Point Reyes.Occasionally we venture further afield to
such hot birding spots as the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge and
Elkhorn Slough.
Bird Walks:
Once a month we schedule a bird walk led by an experienced birder, some
of whom are our own members. Our group averages in size between 10 and
20 people, a comfortable size that allows us to get up close & personal
to the leader and each other.
We provide the convenience of car pooling, and several of our outings
are followed by delicious potlucks which give us the opportunity to discuss
our sightings for the day and enjoy the good company of our members.
Guest Speakers & Book Group:
Guest speakers on various topics of interest to birders are scheduled
twice a year at the Rockridge Public Library. And for those who enjoy
reading, we have a book group that meets every 4 to 6 weeks.
Members are welcome to attend regularly or occasionally.
Join Us:
We welcome beginning and experienced adult birders. Check us out by joining
a couple of our bird walks, and if we are what you have been looking for,
become a member for the reasonable dues of $25/year.
Membership puts you on our e-mail roster to keep you
informed about all our events.
